Free Harry Potter Printables For Universal Orlando

If you're heading to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and you're a big Harry Potter fan, this is for you! I'm heading there myself soon and I wanted to make it extra special for the other HP lovers in my family. So I created two things that I'd like to share with you to make your trip a little more magical.

1.) Hogwarts Acceptance Letter / Checklist

The classic "acceptance letter" from the books and movies, with the added editable checklist to make sure you bring what you need with you to the park. It's on Google Docs so you can easily edit it and customize it.

2.) Itinerary - Daily Prophet Themed

A Daily Prophet Newspaper that helps point out some of the "easter eggs" in the park, gives you the most "movie/book" path through the area, shows, and also offers a simple itinerary on the last page.

MaterialsI used Vintage Paper and Envelopes, Aged Stationery for Handwritten Letters, Party Invitations (Set of 48) to print out my letters. They're more "standard" shaped envelopes that I knew I could use for other things and knew would work with my printer. Envelope Printable - If you get this envelope this is the google doc I used to print the Hogwarts logo on them. But printing on envelopes can be tough to get in line! I suggest using regular printer paper, cutting it to the size of the envelope, and writing on it. Then you can tell if your printer prints on the bottom or top side of the sheet. And if left or right is the bottom or top of the document. Get it right on the regular paper before you put in the expensive envelopes because it will probably vary slightly per printer. You can once again do File > Make a Copy if you need to scoot the logo around to make it work with your printer. The MoonVila 50 Pack Blank Envelopes + Wax Seal Stickers are a good option though if you want an envelope that's shaped more like the movies. Stickers won't melt on a long drive or airplane ride. The Florida heat can make real wax a mess!If you really gotta have real wax on those letters, there's a Hogwarts Wax Stamp Kit for the ultimate in "You're really a wizard"Feathers - Get a small bag and put a few around the letter so your party knows it was delivered by owl! If you get an owl plushie try to get the feathers to match the owl color. Go for a classic white feather if you're going for Hedwig.Owl Plushie - You can start with the first souvenir of the trip with a plushie! It can be expensive to get one for everyone though, and not everyone has space in their bags, so keep in mind who will actually want one. And don't forget there are also options to buy animal plushies in the park that might be more fun.I got lucky and found some "Harry Potter Wax Seals" for scrapbooks on ebay, but they don't seem to be sold regularly anymore. They're wax seals made of plastic. If you're crafty you could probably make your own with a 3D printer, or some Epoxy mixed with red pigment and a Hogwarts Wax Stamp kit. You can see how to make "fake spills" with epoxy. Other than that I'd stick with fake wax seal stickers.

Instructions for Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

You can find the letter here on Google Docs. Go to File > Make a Copy. This will give you your own copy that you can editChange the "Mr. Potter" to the name of the person who will be receiving it. The format is Mr/Ms./Mrs Last Name, but you can also just do the first name if the situation calls for it.Change the dates. "Term Begins" should be the day you're going to the park/plan to visit the Harry Potter section. "No later than" should be the day before. Page 2 can be used as a checklist for the day. If you have an outfit planned or things you want to make sure you bring to the park you can put it here! Print it! If you're really on a budget print it on regular printer paper and stain it with coffee/tea. For extra points, if you have a color printer select the whole page and turn all the text green. These letters are usually written in a special green ink in the HP Universe.Address the front of the Envelope. (Bonus points: use a green ink pen) (You can even bring a green pen with you to the park and leave a blank spot so you can write something like "Room 2021 - The bed closest to the window")Mr. H. PotterThe Example Hotel1234 Hotel Address Example Orlando, FLPut the acceptance letter on top of the checklist. This will make it so they see the acceptance letter first when they unfold it. Fold them and place them in the envelope.Seal only the very tip of the envelope Add a wax seal (several options below)My plan is to put my phone across the room next to the letters, newspaper, and some feathers and play some owl sounds. You can set an alarm with a custom sound for 5 minutes from now for example so you're not near it. My phone is actually a Samsung Galaxy Note which has a pen so I can just press the button at a time I think it's right. You could also do this by setting a ringtone and calling from another phone. Make sure you set the volume loud enough. I'm going to record on someone else's phone during this. Put it behind the hotel window curtain, near the door, or under the desk--somewhere they have to find that "owl" sound! If you can't do that, I guess you can just say "Did y'all hear that? I heard an owl hoot, must be the mail delivery! Look around!" for a tiny hunt.EDIT: I found that even on max volume my phone was very quiet in a talkative room with the Florida AC running so I needed to say "Did you guys hear that?" anyways. Also, you may want to pick an owl sound that's very repetitive, there were several seconds of silence between each hoot and that made it harder and less organic to look for it. You might even want to just opt for just music like Hedwig's Theme.

Instructions for Daily Prophet ItineraryPrinting the NewspaperI designed this to be able to print on regular printer paper and it'll look pretty good, but you can go the extra mile and get some ivory printer paper so it's a bit more like the movies or an old vintage newspaper color. Or use some of the extras from the acceptance letters. You'll need to print on both sides of the same sheet of paper for this to work. My printer has double-sided printing as a feature, so it was merely a matter of telling Google Chrome "print on both sides" and "flip on short edge" to get it right. If you don't have this feature then you'll have to figure out the printing orientation for your printer and flip the pages yourself to print on both sides. The process may vary slightly depending on your printer.Google Chrome Print Settings:Print on Both SidesFlip on Short EdgeMargins: NoneFolding the NewspaperFront Page - Daily ProphetLast Page - Simple Itinerary(Place this face down)Then put the 2nd sheet of paper on top, you should be looking at the big "Celestina Warbeck" ad on the right side facing upwards.Flip the stack over and fold in half. You should now be able to flip through the pages and check that the page numbers are correct and in order. Fold it in half again for the classic newspaper fold you can stack.Optional: Get some twine and tie a stack together. This Youtube tutorial will show you how.Created by: Jem Cope
